The best above-ground rectangular swimming pool depends on available yard space, desired swim area, and setup needs. The INTEX 32-by-16-foot pool offers the largest listed swimming area, while the Bestway and INTEX 24-by-12-foot sets suit buyers seeking a large family pool. The 18-by-9-foot SunSwell is a more compact option, and the SIHAIAN product is a cover accessory rather than a pool.

INTEX Ultra XTR 32-by-16-Foot Pool
This is the largest pool in this selection and is best for buyers with substantial, level yard space who want room for family swimming. Its listed dimensions are 32 by 16 feet, with a 52-inch height and 14,364-gallon capacity.
The pool has a three-ply liner made with polyester mesh and extra-thick PVC. Its galvanized steel frame has inner and outer powder coatings, and the T-joints include a UV inhibitor. The listed set includes a pump.
- Choose this if: maximum listed pool area is the priority.
- Limitation: its large footprint and water capacity require more space and water than the smaller options.
Bestway Power Steel 24-by-12-Foot Pool
Bestway’s Power Steel is best for buyers who want a large rectangular set with a specified drainage feature. It measures 24 by 12 feet and 52 inches high. The listing states a 7,937-gallon capacity and identifies a filter pump, ladder, and cover among the included items.
The Tritech sidewalls use a polyester mesh core between two layers of high-gauge PVC. Its Seal & Lock System is designed for secure pipe connections. A flow-control drain valve connects to a garden hose using the included adapter.
- Choose this if: hose-connected drainage is a useful feature for your setup.
- Limitation: the listed capacity is lower than the similarly sized INTEX 24-by-12-foot model.
INTEX Ultra XTR 24-by-12-Foot Pool
This INTEX model is best for buyers who want a 24-by-12-foot pool with a listed 8,403-gallon capacity. It shares the Bestway’s stated length, width, and height, but its listed capacity is higher. Compare included accessories and site requirements before choosing between them.
The pool has a three-ply liner made with polyester mesh and PVC. Its galvanized steel frame has inner and outer powder coatings to resist rust, and the T-joints include a UV inhibitor. The product description lists a pump and a two-year warranty for the pool liner, frame, and filter pump.
- Choose this if: you prefer the listed capacity and frame details of this INTEX set.
- Limitation: confirm the current package contents, since the supplied features specify a pump but do not list a ladder or cover.
SunSwell 18-by-9-Foot Pool
The SunSwell is best for buyers comparing a smaller interior swimming area. The listing gives interior dimensions of 18 by 9 feet by about 47 inches and a 3,848-gallon capacity. It also lists a ladder, filter pump, repair patches, and a galvanized steel frame with a locking system.
The three-ply PVC material is described as puncture-resistant. Note that the listing gives overall frame dimensions of approximately 20 by 11 feet 3.4 inches, which are larger than the interior measurements.
- Choose this if: a smaller pool footprint is more practical than the 24- or 32-foot options.
- Limitation: a ground cloth is not included, and the material may become stiff in cold weather, making installation or folding more difficult.
SIHAIAN 10-by-16-Foot Pool Cover
This item is an accessory, not a swimming pool. It is best for buyers who already have a compatible 10-by-16-foot oval or rectangular frame pool and need a cover. The listing describes four side straps, mounting bases for frame pools, and a self-tightening system using webbing straps and tensioners.
Its mounting hardware is designed for frame pools, and the cover hooks connect to bases at the pool’s four corners. Check the pool’s shape and dimensions before ordering.
- Choose this if: your existing pool matches the cover size and frame style.
- Limitation: the listing does not establish compatibility with every pool; steel-wall pools may require an optional accessories kit.
Buying Guide: How To Choose A Rectangular Above-Ground Pool
How much yard space should you allow?
Compare the pool’s full frame dimensions with the available level area, not just the water or interior dimensions. The SunSwell listing, for example, gives an 18-by-9-foot interior but an overall frame size of about 20 by 11 feet 3.4 inches. Leave room for access and equipment, and follow the manufacturer’s site-preparation directions.
What pool size and capacity fit your needs?
A 32-by-16-foot pool provides the largest listed area but holds 14,364 gallons. The 24-by-12-foot models hold 7,937 and 8,403 gallons, while the smaller SunSwell holds 3,848 gallons. Capacity affects the amount of water required, so compare it with your household’s filling and maintenance plans.
Which construction details matter?
Look at both the liner and frame. The listed options include multi-layer PVC liners, polyester mesh reinforcement, galvanized steel frames, and locking connections. These are product specifications, not a guarantee that a pool will withstand every site condition. Follow assembly, ground-preparation, and care instructions.
What accessories are included?
Package contents vary. The Bestway listing identifies a pump, ladder, and cover; the SunSwell listing identifies a ladder and filter pump; and both INTEX listings specify a pump. Confirm the exact contents before buying, especially if you need a cover, ladder, or particular filtration equipment.
How do you choose a pool cover?
Match the cover’s dimensions and attachment style to the pool. The SIHAIAN cover is listed as 10 by 16 feet and includes hardware intended for frame pools. Do not assume that a cover for that size fits a larger rectangular pool.
